Seriously, I'm becoming greatly concerned and not sure what to do at this point. This is only from sitting for an hour and a half.

That looks like more than just oil... are you sure it's not someone else leaking and washing oil off the engine/pans? Does it small like coolant at all?

Can you see where the oil is coming from on the top side of the engine? Or is it coming from the bottom end? Have you done any work on the car recently?

Brake cleaner on the bottom of the engine/trans and scrub where necessary to get down to metal, then park over a foil oven pan about 1" full of kitty litter to locate the leak.

Report back on origin of leak for further assistance. Thats a lot of oil.

My ten step plan for fixing an oil leak. Many times an oil leak is easily repaired. Sometimes not so much.

Step one: Buy Brake Cleaner

Step Two: Get under car

Step Three: Spray Brake Cleaner liberally all over the affected area to create a nice clean, inspect-able surface.

Step Four: Park over top either a:)Pan of kitty litter b.) Cardboard sheet

Step Five: Get a beer.

Step Six: Wait.

Step Seven: inspect the cardboard and the cleaned underside of car to find where leak is.

Step Eight: If the leak is shade tree mechanic worthy. Get your hands dirty. If not refer to step nine.

Step Nine: Have that bitch towed to your favorite mechanic.

Step Ten: Pay the man.

If it is purely oil, you must be losing it fast. How low does it get on the stick and how fast? A leak like this, while parked, would make me think you have a lower seal leak of some kind... possibly a cross threaded plug even.

Going to follow steps 1-not the mechanic. Been screwed too many times and can't find a trustworthy mechanic.

Step Eleven: Cry

Step Twelve: Have more beer

When I left this morning it was halfway in the safe zone and my car had an oil change about 900 miles ago so that's quite a bit. Haven't checked at work yet but concerned.

It is a terrible thing not to have a good mechanic on your side. I try to stick to my driveway for most things but sometimes I just suck it up and take it in. A lot of repairs these days are much easier just to take it in and pay the extra premium. It leaves more time to play with the brats.

I only do brake jobs and oil changes nowadays when I used to try to fix everything myself.

Did you do the oil change or did you have a place like Jiffy Lube do it? If you didn't do it and weren't paying close attention, I would jack it up and check that it isn't something as simple as a loose filter or screwed up drain plug.

There was no leak til last night. I take it to a local dealership. I get 4 oil changes for $55. Quite a steal honestly.

If there was no leak at all, and suddenly it's leaking this bad, it would certainly look like something let go. What vehicle is it? How long ago was the oil change?

It's a GM, they all leak. The good thing is, they can run low or without oil and be perfectly fine.

Probably just an oil pan gasket, or crank seal. Hopefully the front, they're easier to change.

It's a 1999 pontiac GTP, oil was changed a little less than a month ago

If the engine is running smooth and there are no idiot lights on, I would top her up with some oil and drive home then put her up on some jack stands to find the leak.

Looks like water in the pic, lots o glare, hard to tell.

Since i don't know the back story and cant feel the consistency of what is on the ground... Could it be condensation from AC dripping onto the parking lot slurry coat and leaching up some of the oils? Just a thought.

I purposely turned off the ac this morning so that it wouldn't distort what I would find. To my untrained eye, I can't see any coolant in the liquid.

Do you see any leakage near the top of the engine? I'm not 100% certain, but don't those have a separate oil system for the blower? If it does, at least you don't have to worry about it going pop if the engine oil gets low, but the engine still might.

I would get the thing on stands quick or else just go get another oil change and see if they can find anything while they are down there. It will be a lot cheaper to do an extra unnecessary oil change than it will be to replace that engine.

I didn't know you had an MG...if my MG's not leaking oil, it means it's out of oil...

But ditto on all the clean underside/wait recommendations.
